Backstory

The truth is, I’ve always had a soft spot for sharp pointy things. Well, not all “sharp and pointy things”, pretty much just knives, and swords, and spears, and… Yeah, ok, ok. I think you get the idea. Anyway, making my own knives seemed to be less a question of “if” then “when”.

I’ve always been fond of the outdoors. I owe that passion entirely to my father, who often took me backpacking, fishing, and hunting in the Sierra Nevada National Forest, as a youngster. A good knife always seemed to pair perfectly with a sturdy belt, worn boots, and a modest appetite for adventure.

When it comes to knives, the backcountry has a keen ability to illuminate the difference between a good knife and dead weight. I myself have been the butt of more than one joke for bringing the wrong blade to the wrong place. This eventually compelled me to figure out what I really needed on my belt in the first place, and ultimately lead me to create the knives that I wanted, but couldn’t find.
